Let us help create a visual identity that you can be proud of and represents how you want to portray your business.

So what exactly is a branding package?

Let’s take a look at a recent customer of ours, Spatial BIM from Cedar Rapids, IA.

Logo

After an initial kickoff meeting with Spatial BIM to discuss their business and any specific criteria they had for the logo, we got to work on the initial design.

The customer specified that they wanted to use shades of blue and they wanted it to feel like it had some depth rather than just be a flat logo. “BIM” stands for Building Information Modeling, which is just another term for a 3D digital model of a construction project or existing building.

After much deliberation and tweaking, this is the design we came up with.

The primary feature is three cubes stacked in pyramid, which is similar to isometric drawings that are common on construction blueprints.

However, the cubes are shaded with two different shades of blue to create an optical illusion where it appears we are looking upward through the bottom of lower two cubes, and downward through the top of the upper cube. This creates the depth the customer asked for while still remaining simple and clean.

Alternate Colorways

Spatial BIM’s business will do work within multiple construction trades, each of which has a specific color designation. In anticipation of expansion into those trades, we created alternate color pairings to signify each trade that can be used with existing white and grey tones.

Fonts & Color Palette

After finalizing the primary color scheme and each of the alternate schemes, we finalized the color palette by recording Hex and RGB codes, which will help printers find the exact colors if the customer decides to use the logo on signage or apparel. We also specify any neutral colors, two different shades of grey in this case, which will be used with the logo.

Another important aspect of branding is font choice. Typically, we choose one font to be used directly with the main logo, as the font has been carefully chosen to pair with the geometry of the logo. We also choose another font that would be used for the body of official documents and on the company’s website. This secondary font will likely be in the same general category (serif, sans serif, etc.) to have a similar feel to the primary font, but will be easier to read in paragraph form.

General Usage Guidelines

The final step in the branding guide is General Usage Guidelines, which is simply a guide for how to best show off that new logo and avoid situations that may diminish its impact.

We like to pass along both Dos and Don’ts so we can clearly explain our recommendations and you aren’t left guessing. For example, always being sure to use the logo on high contrast backgrounds is the best way to make sure it stands out. In contrast, using the logo over top of a busy picture, say a picture of a construction site for example, makes it look cluttered.

We’ll make sure you know exactly how you can make sure your brand identity is always looking its best.

And that’s it!

This is just one example of the type of brand identity we can provide for your business, but it’s far from the limit. No matter how simple or complex your branding needs are, we can help.
